Que viva este esfuerzo que brota desde abajo, desde la sociedad

Un festival de poesía es una gran celebración de la literatura, un espacio fértil para el diálogo, la interacción, la libertad y la democracia; en definitiva, un pulmón cultural. Si deja de existir, se desola inmediatamente —como pérdidas colaterales— y se debilitan todos los centros cercanos que lo alimentaban y lo sostenían, la conexión entre personas que formaban una densa red de significados y voces a su alrededor.
Lo mismo ocurrirá si deja de existir el Festival Internacional de Poesía de Medellín, quizás el festival más grande del mundo y uno de los más longevos e importantes de Latinoamérica. No dejemos que se extinga, como ocurrió con el festival de Granada en Nicaragua. Nuestro mundo es demasiado inhumano, cínico y sin libertad si nο existen esfuerzos que comiencen desde abajo, desde la sociedad y no desde las agencias estatales.
La brisa de la poesía es un viento de libertad y nos ayuda a respirar con esperanza en los festivales del mundo.

A poetry festival is a great celebration of literature, a fertile space for dialogue, interaction, freedom and democracy, ultimately a lung of culture. If it ceases to exist, it immediately desolates - as collateral losses - and all the nearby centers that fed and supported it, the connection of people that formed a dense network of meanings and voices around it weakens.
The same will happen if the Medellín Internatiola Poetry Festival ceases to exist, perhaps the largest festival in the world and one of the longest-running and most important in Latin America. Let's not let it die out, as happened with the Granada festival in Nicaragua. Our world is too inhuman, cynical and unfree without efforts that start from below, from society and not from state-controlled agencies.
The breeze of poetry is a wind of freedom and helps us breathe with hope at the festivals of the world.
